There is an ultrasound device the doctors can have you swallow that examines the heart from behind and below and examines the aorta on its way back up. The device costs $16,000 and they put a device in your mouth so you don't bite it.
Doctors and nurses will chew your ass out for not coming in earlier when experiencing intermittent chest pains and then after running through tens of thousands of dollars tell you they can do nothing, but its not life threatening and you will just have to live with it.
When there is no room on the cardiac floor and they put you on another floor a chest pain complaint gets a much faster response.
You can go to the ER at 7PM and get admitted through the "Express Admitting" department and still not get into a room until 430 AM. I am damn glad I went through the express department.
When your new insurance goes into effect on Feb 1 and you have to meet a $4,000 deductible before they pay for ANYTHING it is somewhat satisfying to meet the deductible with just two days in the hospital and two procedures and 11 1/2 months to go.
