I've decided to pay off my lease on the car early (by one year). The car still has 7K miles on it and is 4 years old. I don't use it, kind of outgrew it with the family, and so I called up Volvo and paid out the remaining lease amount.

When I take it for inspection, what do I need to know?

I'm not sure how Volvo does it, but there may be nothing for you to do or know. Toyota for example, you just turn in your car at your local dealer. They have you sign a piece of paper acknowledging that you turned it in with X amount of miles, and then you leave. Some time later, Toyota sends someone to either inspect the car at the dealer, or asks to the dealer to ship it to them for inspection. Either way, you don't find out for weeks what they think about your car or not.

What I did was took a million pictures of the exterior and interior of the car before I turned it in. That way, if they tried to come back at me with BS damages, I had something to prove differently.

Wow, they may do that? BS damages I mean? How lovely.

I had heard of it happening before, especially in the cases where they transport the vehicle before inspecting. So, I just decided to play CYA.

Or course, it ended up not being needed, but better safe than sorry.
