I seriously don't get what type of subhuman creatures can do these things (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,147050,00.html) to any other living creature let alone their own offspring...
"State law lets a mother leave a baby at any medical facility or fire station within three days of birth without any questions asked."
In other words, No :friggin: excuse!

And the plot thickens (http://apnews.myway.com//article/20050211/D886H0VG1.html) ...

Illinois has a similar law.
But, just a day or two ago, a dead baby was found in a laundry cart at a hospital in Chicago.
It's unbelievable. I'll just leave it at that. :tape:

I was saying that the person who "discovered" the baby was my first choice for blame... but I talked myself out of it

I thought you were replying to MNeedham ... either way, it's a tragic story, but at least this is a touch more tolerable. At least she didn't purposely harm the child, and tried to get him to a safe place, she just wasn't too honest or smart about the whole thing.
There is not enough publicity for the Operation: Safe Arms type programs ... many of the moms who need them the most don't know they are there.

I don't see how it's more tolerable. This woman is 38 years old and has a 10 year old son. Hid her pregnancy from everyone. And then, on the way to disposing of the kid, makes up a story about it having been thrown out of a car and she rescued it. I haven't seen it explained anywhere why the baby needed a splint/cast for it's arm, either. More tolerable? This isn't some teenager we're talking about. I hope they are seriously looking at removing the 10 year old from her home.

The split is to protect the IV ... and to me, there is a big difference between tossing a newborn out the window of a moving vehicle like a bunch of garbage, leaving it to die or whatever .... and making up a wild story so that the child gets to somewhere safe.
The lady definitely has problems ... but child abuse doesn't appear to be one of them. She took definite steps to ensure the child's safety.
Yes, she does have definate problems. And didn't have to make up the story at all. And she knew that. Which is why I hope they are seriously looking at the situation with the 10 year old remaining in the home.
Thank you for the explanation regarding the splint.
