View Full Version : The Seven Deadly Sins

I won't bother going into all the background about the Catholic Church's teachings on the seven deadly sins; you can google it as easy as I can if you want to. But I find the list interesting; it's a pretty comprehensive compilation of humanity's faults.

Of all the things on the list, which I'll provide in a second, I'm most guilty of sloth. Sure, I've experienced all the others before, and will again, no doubt. But the one that stays with me most is sloth. It's not that I'm lazy, I work by butt off when it's called for. But I do my best to figure out how to keep it from being called for, in the first place. Then, I do the best, absolute minimum required. I don't see much point, once the job has been well-accomplished, in keeping on at it.

Anyway, from the list below, which of these seven deadly sins are you most prone to, and why?

1. Pride
2. Greed
3. Envy
4. Anger
5. Lust
6. Gluttony
7. Sloth

Sloth as well, anger, and lust.

I am not jealous of anyone, usually happy for people who do well. I am not greedy, one thing I am probably the other side of the spectrum. Gluttony? Nope, I skip breakfasts and at times won't even eat dinner.

Anger I am working on, comes with the job but also an excuse but I am working on it. Sloth? I don't know here. I think everyone wants to minimize work and there's nothing wrong with making your job more efficient so you have times to relax.

Greed, Anger, and as always, Lust. :)

When I say greed, it doesn't mean I'd sell my mother or anything like that. However, in the slowly westering sun of my life, I have come to recognize that greenbacks are about the closest thing to happiness one can achieve; basically said, one can buy himself into and out of just about anything with enough cash on hand. And hey, if I weren't playing the game for some bottom line orientation, then I wouldn't be a consultant. ;)

Anger is a little more difficult to define...lots of things piss me off, but not to the point to where I'm either homicidal or suicidal. Maybe this shouldn't be on my personal list?

And ah yes, Lust...again, perhaps a product of growing older and finding I have more years behind me than before me, but I've become a pima horn dog.

Anger and probably gluttony.

I'll let stuff get to me and just kind of bury it until I explode or I retaliate (passive-aggressive). I'm better at subduing it now than I was when I was younger.

Gluttony - I like a good ol' pig out now and then... :) (and then feel like crap)

Anger. I'm definitely guilty.

I should steer clear of this, probably. I dont see these things as faults, especially so when discussing lust, and I deeply despise the concept of 'sin'. I think it has caused more pain and suffering and damage in the world than gunpowder.

That being said, Ill go with... anger.

Piss on all of those. I'm about as perfect a human being as you can get. I'm wonderful.

If "Asshole" was on that list, I'd consider choosing it. http://www.globalaffairs.org/forum/images/smilies/whistle.gif

I definitely eat more than I need.

Perhaps I'm just generalizing my internal makeup unfairly, but isn't every man guilty of lust, at least in the Jimmy Carter sense of the word? :)

Not being a religious person, I don't really believe in "sins," but I'll answer anyway :)

Pride - I have a rough time swallowing it more often than I'd care to admit to.

Greed - *shrug* sometimes. Doesn't everyone wish they had more money?

Envy - Nah.

Anger - I've an Irish temper. 'Nuff said :)

Lust - just after amjezioro ;)

Gluttony - Not sure on this. I almost have to eat a lot, due to my body type.

Sloth - I bust my ass when I need to, but I'll take shortcuts when available, as long as the job gets done.

You don't choose it, it chooses you. In your case... well... :)

Sloth is probably the worst for me, I cruised through high school. I'm not saying I did bad, and in fact most kids in my grade would probably kill for my grades, but I just never placed any sense of importance on it, never really felt a need to give it a lot of effort. I didn't study for my SATs or ACTs either.

I meant any man who says he only lusts after his gf is the same 10% of the men who say that they don't masturbate.
