Absolutely astounding. I can only imagine the breakthroughs this could provide in the medical field.

Absolutely astounding. I can only imagine the breakthroughs this could provide in the medical field.Very interesting. Chances are, he's probably harmed himself much like the Curies did, without realizing the power of what they had discovered. On a scientific level it sounds astounding, on a private citizen level, it's scary and creepy as hell.
.While Hurtubise’s claims appear, on the surface, to strain credulity, he has now placed himself miles ahead in the quest by high-tech companies to invent something that will do the same thing.

Motorola Inc. for example, has set its sights on emerging technology that could allow first responders and Special Forces to see through building walls, the Washington Technology Web site reports.

Camero Inc. an Israeli firm founded by technology and intelligence veterans, received $5 million from Motorola and other investors to develop portable imaging radar that uses ultra-wideband technology to create a 3-D picture of objects that are concealed by walls or other barriers.

....

Hurtubise said he could see into the garage behind his lab wall, and read the licence plate on his wife's car and even see the salt on it.

....

Hurtubise continued testing the light on other materials and discovered it could also see through other metals including steel, tin, titanium and, unlike Superman, lead.

As well the beam also penetrated ceramic and wood.

I wonder why it doesn't also see through whatever is behind the wall, you would think if it could penatrate everything, then it would simply penatrate everything.

I read it earlier today. I think it's BS. A big hoax.

I read it earlier today. I think it's BS. A big hoax.Yeah, I was looking at the credibility of the paper reporting it, and it seems to be a smallish publication. I would think that involving MIT in a hoax would be a dangerous proposition, but it certainly DOES sound farfetched. Then again, I'm sure when the properties of uranium were first outlined there must have been all kinds of rightfully skeptical people who could not fathom that it might acually do what it does.

The whole dream thing is very suspect though.

So where is the raw video of the device in action? That's certainly a prerequisite for removing the "B.S. flag" from the article.

Let me guess: one can only see the effect in-person. :shake:

In the picture notice the suit in the back, unless I'm wrong this is the same guy that is building BEAR Proof suits and getting mauled by grizliles.

edit:
yep I was right, http://www.nfb.ca/grizzly/index.html

Well, I don't know if it's BS or not really. If so, well, I agree - how hard would it be to get a quick video demo? If true, WOW!

Hmmmm, it sees though just about any material and as proof he says he saw through the garage wall and read his license plate and even saw salt on it? So now we just have to make all our stealth planes with license plates held together with salt. Homey don't play that game. What a moron.

It's pure BS. This is the same nutter who set about to build the bearproof robosuit (http://projecttroy.com.nexx.com/website/) a few years ago.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly which "law of physics" this magical light/ray machine-a-ma-bob is supposed to be breaking.

See through walls? Ever hear of "X-rays"?
