I was reminded of this thread (http://www.globalaffairs.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12189&highlight=broken+child) by Cariad whose son apparently has a great talent for the written word.
As I was reading the thread, I noticed how dim the view of the horizon was back then. While, not all is perfect, things are better than expected and I thought an update might be in order.
Said child, is now 17 and 2/3. He has graduated the High School program "inside," and is now taking "extra" classes. He is known as "The Minister" to most because of his faithful walk with Christ. He has catered to the Aryans inside to survive. As a result he is a little brainwashed, but not severely. I thin he will be okay after some OUTSIDE life, (and a good thump on "ye old noggin" from mom! ;) )
He has plans to live in the San Francisco area nad pursue his dreams of helping the homeless (both human and animal.) He has explained his plans to me in detail. They stem from dreams we shared when he was young. The details are based on reality and sound as if they CAN happen. :)
Like I said, it's not all peaches and cream. He has a nasty mark on his record forever due to sloth and ignorance of his "staff," including me. :(
He wants to change his name to Aryan :rolleyes: (thunk thunk!)
He will be starting out with nothing and no one.
He does have a partner and me. That's a lot!
We never imagined there would be this much progress and promise at this stage, nearing the end of his ventures "inside." He will be out to begin his new life sometime next year.
