Gmail has added Atom web feeds, a format that's akin to RSS. The feeds include a summary of each new message in your Google email. See screen grabs. In addition, the service rolled out a more robust contact interface that nicely lists all your contacts the related messages that live in your archive as well as the ability to forward your messages to any other email account.

I don't have that option. :(

MOST people don't yet... but there should be a "New Features" that just went red for many and it tells you about new features to come if you click on it. Unfortunately, it's dated 10/01 and there's nothing there. :)

But this is one of the things that will be included once it's rolled out to all gmail servers.

I don't have it yet either, but I did just notice a new "contacts" link on the left hand side. Makes it a little easier to look up my address book.

I wonder if the new import address book options will also work with Outlook? That would make my life much easier!

Got that right! I've held off on importing my addresses over because it's a royal pain right now.

Got that right! I've held off on importing my addresses over because it's a royal pain right now.

Here is what Gmail says you can do now:

You can import address books from Outlook, Yahoo!, orkut and other services to your Gmail account by uploading CSV (comma separated values) files.

To import contacts to Gmail:

1. Create a custom CSV file or export the address book from your other webmail provider or email client as a CSV file. (Additional information on exporting and creating or altering .csv files is listed below.)
2. Log into Gmail and click 'Contacts' on the left side of the page. The Contacts list will open in a new window.
3. Click 'Import Contacts.'
4. Click 'Browse' and locate the CSV file you wish to upload from your computer.
5. Select the file and click 'Import Contacts.' After successfully uploading the document, a dialogue box displays the number of new entries that were added to your Contacts list.

Gmail only imports contacts that contain email addresses. If some entries aren't included in your Contacts list, Gmail will tell you why these entries were left out.

Because Gmail does not offer group or distribution list functionality at this time, this information won't be transferred from other address books into your Gmail Contacts list.

Please note that if you import information about a contact that matches the email address of an existing entry, only the most-recently uploaded version of that entry will remain in your Gmail Contacts list.

Interesting. They ditched the currently more popular RSS 2.0 format in favor of the more cutting edge Atom. With blogger supporting only Atom now, I can see Google is using its weight to make Atom the more dominant format. This will turn out to be most interesting.

As far as my GMail goes, I haven't gotten any Atom features on mine yet. Although I don't use it much so I guess I can't be too surprised...

I imported my OE files awhile ago and it went fine.

I don't use Gmail much and have never given my addy out, but I got my first porn spam today! Yea, I am somebody.

I turned in your gmail to a spammer. That's for insulting me in another thread.

To all you new people, beware, I take things beyond the forum and will hunt you down. (;))
