Yes, well my PPC is new, so there.
But they do have some nice books, I'm even tempted to download a Russian novel. I have a 512 card, so I can do the typical huge War and Peace.
The only problem is that I can't view foreign languages. I need a good viewer. I got a hack, but now my settings menu shows up in English but in a foreign font.

I downloaded Beowulf, and some of James Fenimore Cooper's trashy stuff ;), which I'm partial to.
I wish they had an American history section though, other than just the civil war.
I'll have to check out your second link later.

A lot of the free stuff from the second link comes from the first link, but they do have history, other than the Civil War and the money section has tons of history books.

Dude, you read in Russian?
If so, even slowly, reaad War and Peace in Russian. It's NOTHING (imho) like it is in English.

I don't read Russian, yet. I know some of the letters. I was thinking of getting a russian novel, in English.
Although, maybe I can download some Russian learning program. The last time I tried, the alphabet was fairly simple to pick up.

It is simple. I'd say it's closer to Hebrew as a language than English.
But War and Peace would not be a good first book to start with. There is kniga.com, which is physically located in Brooklyn, but their shipping is excellent as well. If and when you are ready I can recommend some excellent books.

It's just confusing to convert, H is N, etc. And print is different than written letters....
I found a shareware program that looks good.
And then I have to learn the language as well..... Although riding the B train should make that easier. :)

H should be an N anyway. :P
Yah, I am sure there are rough spots but you know what, each letter has a specific pronounciation that doesn't deviate no matter where that letter is; unlike English. For example, the letter C in English. It could be a K sounde or an S sound, coupled with an H, it could have a (CHarred sound, or a K sound again, etc...) Even a CZ is a TSar sound.
In Russian, the letter C is always pronounced as an S. For K, there's K, and for CHarred sound there's one letter that will always have that sound and it's the ч letter. TS sound is again an independent letter царь (That's Czar in Russian).

I just finished downloading Project Gutenberg's ( http://www.gutenberg.org ) DVD ISO with almost 10,000 of the most-often requested etexts.
I know I can get them online--but there's something that tickles me about having 10,000 books on a DVD--available for me at any time.
