A Fairfax Co., VA judge dismissed a capital murder case against John Allen Muhammed, one of the DC snipers, today. The judge ruled that Muhammed's right to a speedy trial had been violated. Muhammed has been charged with murder as an act of terrorism in the shooting of an FBI analyst in Fairfax Co., but the case won't go to trial.

A different Virginia court sentenced Muhammad to die after his conviction last year on two counts of capital murder. He faces further trials in Virginia and possibly several other states in relation to shootings. While this case being dropped is a big embarrassing "oops" to these prosecutors, the guy is already toast (unless he wins an appeal), and his accomplice WAS convicted for this particular murder, so at least the victim's family is able to see some measure of justice.
Sad all around. :-\
You know, it's cases like this that piss me off to no end.
right to a speedy trial had been violated.
How about his victim's rights for not having their heads blown off?
Oh that's right. What was I thinking.
Here in the land of the free, and 3 lawyers for every criminal, victims have no rights, and a dirtbag like him still has the possibility (ever so slight, but it DOES exist!) of getting his current convictions overturned because he had yet another one of his rights violated.
Before you know it, he could be out, and running against Marion Berry for mayor of D.C.
What a shame he didn't "resist" when he was arrested, and save the taxpayers untold millions. :banghead:

Washington-area sniper John Allen Muhammad is asking prosecutors in a letter to help him end legal appeals of his conviction and death sentence "so that you can murder this innocent black man."
