New York City has to be the toughest place to leave your bike out on the street. With many of the couriers using bikes for their means of transportation, these guys need a lock that can prove itself.

Kryptonite Corp (http://www.kryptonitelocks.com/) designed one, they even have one named after New York (http://www.kryptonitelock.com/inetisscripts/abtinetis.exe/PublicArticleDetails@public?artid=3035&atf=products_item&pgrp=20).

Seems like the lock was not so tough after all. A few videos are showing what a few kids did with a bic pen and how easy it was to open one of these "world toughest locks".

I can't believe it is that simple!

Leave it to street kids from NYC to figure that one out. rofl

Pretty sad. :)

I read somewhere that Kryptonite responded to this in saying that the new cylinders (which are not prone to this) are on their way to the consumers.

Copz made reference in a recent thread that there was such a thing as a soft plastic one-time key that could defeat a lock tumbler. I imagined some exotic, hard to find device available to law enforcement only. Ha!

They are now offering a free upgrade to the better cylinder.
