There is an interesting 'battle' of sorts surrounding this man...Tariq Ramadan. His visa and work permit granted earlier
this year to take up a distinguished appointment as Luce Professor of
Religion at Notre Dame University has been revoked. He's an outspoken Islamic professor from Sweden, I believe. I found it amusing...Notre Dame? But the controversy swirls...freedom of speach, freedom to promote thought and discussion vs allowing the 'enemy' to infiltrate and lead in our colleges.
Tariq would like to know...what do we have to fear from him...http://www.iht.com/articles/536660.html
and Daniel Pipes gives his response http://www.danielpipes.org/article/2043

Professors worldwide, many here in the US are outraged.
Personally, I'm glad his visa and the ability to have such a position have been revoked.
What say you all....good or bad?

Edit: Switzerland, not Sweden

I say inconsequential.

What Mr. Ramadan is missing is in his call for the "proof" against him. He bemoans the notion that people keep saying things about him, and by saying it then those notions become common knowledge and accepted as fact. This is a real concept, as in sometimes it's applicable, but not applicable in his case. Because of one little problem with Mr. Ramadan's situation -

No proof is necessary. He's not being tried and convicted. It's a VISA. He's being denied no right. He has NO RIGHT to enter this country.

So until he can show that we MUST let him in until he's proven complicit, he's another Muslim blowhard.

Actually the state department has invited him to reapply.
I'm not sure why the state department finds a need to over ride the DHS, but they have in a way.

Can we just deny a visa to anyone we want? I understand the 'no right' concept but didn't we put laws in place so visas are not denied to certain groups of people?

Actually the state department has invited him to reapply.
That invitation is entirely hollow. It's like "Yes, we decided to deny you, but please feel free to ask again any time."

If he reapplied, he would be denied again, I'm certain.
