Some commentary (http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/print.asp?ID=1138) on Jutta Rabe's controversial film about the sinking of the passenger ferry "Estonia". She implicates Putin and Ivanov in the sinking. The film opened in Sweden on Thursday.

I think that's way overblown, David. She gives Putin way too much credit in all of that. While he WAS a KGbeshnik-- as we Russians call them -- he wasn't important enough, nor high enough, to do what she implicates him of doing.

I will try to see the film, nevertheless, but I hope the documentary is not in the same ballpark as Michael Moore's.

Yes, I'd like to see the film, too. The thing that really interests me about the story/theory is the involvement of Einseln - who was a credible source of information, I think.

There's a website about the film, and the whole "Estonia" case at

and the "opinions" (http://www.juttarabe.com/forum/guestbook.cgi?view) page is especially interesting, IMO.

He could have been in charge of a terrorist operation, though - no need to be a high official for that. And with his GDR background (and what we can deduce from recent Moscow bombings and terrorist acts), it doesn't seem unlikely.
