The rush to wed in San Francisco is not over -- we now are getting the celebrity wave.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Rosie O'Donnell married her longtime girlfriend Thursday, taking what she called a proud stand for gay civil rights in the city where more than 3,300 other same-sex couples have tied the knot since Feb. 12.

"I want to thank the city of San Francisco for this amazing stance the mayor has taken for all the people here, not just us but all the thousands and thousands of loving, law-abiding couples," the former talk show host, holding a large bouquet of purple and yellow flowers, said after she and Kelli Carpenter emerged from their brief ceremony inside Mayor Gavin Newsom's office.

Does this help or hurt the cause? I do not think she is as popular as she was a while back.

Way OT but for obvious reasons, you would never get a mismatched physically looking pair in men like you have in women -- in that shot.

Why not? I have seen some pretty hefty gay guys.

I can't wait until Kelli Carpenter decides she doesn't like Rosie, wants out and wants alimony.

I especially liked Rosie's comments on President Bush proposing the Constitutional Amendment:

"I think the actions of the president are, in my opinion, the most vile and hateful words ever spoken by a sitting president," O'Donnell, who lives in the New York City region, said on the program. "I am stunned and I'm horrified."
(Talk about a person who has life's priorities in perspective.)

With spokespeople like her for the left the sad truth is the right will be running this country for the next century.

It is too bad she is not straight. She and Michael Moore deserver each other.

:haha:

Even before she took this remarkable swing to the left over the past few years, Rosie O'Donnell always evoked nothing but negativity in me. I always knew she was a bull dyke, and that was never the reason. Just her personality was enough to make me want to jump in front of a bus. Really grating.

rofl Leon, what the heck does that mean?

I'm also confused...why shouldn't she be upset with Bush's stance?

What I mean is that guys tend to be more physically visual. While possible for a fat ugly guy and a good looking guywho is attractive to get married, guys just tend to be more shallow that way. ;)

Is it just me or does Rosie bear a striking resemblance to Boy George on steroids... :holyshit:

Well for one, Bush has only really said he's gonna ammend to prevent gay marriage. I would hope he didn't mean civil unions as well? I'm probably wrong though. LOL :nut:

She lost me when she went psycho on Tom Selleck. I said "Gee, this is the 'Queen of Nice'?" Then her bodyguard is discovered to be packing, and she thinks she needs it because she's a celebrity, but the masses don't. Double standards from a big Double Cheeseburger.

Left out of the article was a description of the confusion when the judge said, "You may now kiss the bride."

I just... really dislike Rosie. Alot. I think she would do anything for attention, including this. Smelly stunt, methinks.

That's right! I remember how she basically just bushwhacked the poor guy. I think Selleck did a good job holding his own, but ever since then, there was this "liberal taint" about him, like he was somehow at fault.

And yeah, she deserves protection, but hardworking Americans and their families don't? Please. She should get whacked just because she's a pompous ass. Not only that, after she decays, the Earth would likely return to its normal axial tilt, and NYC wouldn't be so friggin cold in the winter.

Double standards from a big Double Cheeseburger.Did anyone see her on the O'Reilly Show? She actually admitted that she was wrong on this issue and some other things. She said that she let her emotions take over after 9/11, and since that interview, I have had a better opinion of her. It certainly was hypocritical to suggest that she deserved armed protection while less famous people did not, and she knows that now.

I think she realized that she opened her big mouth and demonstrated what a hypocritical bitch she is, and then went scurrying into damage control at the behest of one of the poor people who have to manage her and her mouth.

I find her to be Olestra level fake.

I suppose I am just a little bit more forgiving. I won't compare her to the likes of Olestra! I'll save that for the Michael Moore's of this country. ;)

Does anyone remember when she tried to get other rich celebrities to donate money toward the 9/11 charities? She had the guts to state that most of them were only taking advantage of the spotlight trying to further their careers. I believe Rosie donated quite a chunk of cash while most others, including her close friends, would not give a penny.

I think that Rosie is genuine, but I have disagreed very strongly with her on many things. I didn't like how she used her show to blast republicans and promote the democratic party, and I certainly didn't like her tirade against gun rights.

The gay couples married in these ceremonies are as legally married as the gay couples 'married' in other non-state sanctioned ceremonies. They are spiritually married and I don't doubt the strength, love and commitment is any less than any hetero marriage. This part of marriage is the important one anyway. The priveleges which confer from the legal side of marriage should not be the reason to seek marriage.

Slightly silly. I would support a Constitutional Amendment which specifically banned Rosie O'donnell from getting married. She's just nasty.

Seems they've come up with a rather unique solution (http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/West/03/23/marriage.ban.reut/index.html) in Oregon.
