09:20 Feb 22, '04 / 30 Shevat 5764

(IsraelNN.com) Police are confirming at least seven persons have been killed in this morning’s suicide bombing attack on board a number 14 bus in Jerusalem, traveling near Liberty Bell Park, at the end of Emek Refaim Street, about a block from the Inbal (Laromme Hotel).

Jerusalem hospital officials report over 50 victims of the blast are arriving in trauma centers and emergency rooms and preliminary triage of the victims is underway

Jerusalem Police Chief Miki Levy said that the blast, which occurred at 8:40 A.M., took place in the middle of the bus and that there are fatalities.

The explosion took place while the bus was standing at a street light.

"These are difficult days, and we are making huge efforts to stop terror attacks," Levy said.

It appears that the bombing was carried out by a member of the Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades.

"We bless the pure hand that executed the attack," a senior member of terror organization told the Lebanese TV station. "Israel's intention to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and the construction of the security fence proves the legitimacy of our way."

Senior Al-Aksa Brigades official Osama Hamdan told the the Hizbullah television station, that the attack was meant to serve as a message to the ICJ that the security fence will not bring security to Israeli civilians. (Jerusalem Post)

Why should there be? Al Aksa is part of Arafat's group.

Why should there be? Al Aksa is part of Arafat's group.

I meant the statement in an ironic sense.

The question then might be: Why don't the Palestinian authorities forbid actions of this kind against civilians in Israel? Or should it be "Palestinian" - in inverted commas?

....In a statement posted on a Hamas website, the group demanded Israelis leave all of Israel, "if not, they will face the same destiny of those Zionists who were attacked in the martyrdom operation in Jerusalem today."

So this is now official PA policy.

The more things change the more they stay the same. Peace is impossible and will never happen in Israel. No chance. All that can be done is to take steps to mitigate or keep the carnage as low as possible. The ONLY thing that would bring "peace" to Israel would be if all the Palestinians left the country. But call me crazy, IMO that is never going to happen.

When the fence is completed and Sharon has closed down the settlements, the only outlet for Palestinian violence will be between the various Palestinian factions fighting for control of a devastated piece of real estate and an impoverished people with little hope.

It seems that this fence isn't going to be completed as planned after all. Interesting read. Israel has agreed to remove part of the fence before an international court case is to start. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/3111159.stm

Thus far, your original thought on the entire plan is heading to your predicament and I am loving it.

Peace will be had when the fence is completed.
