Last month, during the US-Islamic World Forum, a former US President gave the concluding address. People there reported it as being one of the best speeches ever. Yet, there was no transcript of it for people to read. The Brookings Institute has remedied that situation by publishing the speech in full. (http://www.brook.edu/dybdocroot/fp/research/projects/islam/clinton20040112.pdf) You can also watch the speech. (http://www.us-islamicworldforum.org/content/multimedia.html)

Let me say, I was VERY skeptical since I have never been a fan of this former President. But, I must now say how very impressed I am. It was a wonderful speech, perfectly matching the group that was there.

Kudos to our new ambassador to the Islamic world...Bill Clinton.

This was done in January of 2004. Why is he presented as "President Clinton"?

The only point I want to make today is: People in the Islamic world should not look at
America solely through the prism of the current state of the Middle East peace talks. It's

okay, if you don't think we're doing the right things, for you to criticize us. But if we're

failing, it doesn't mean that we're hostile to the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians.

Well said!

Former Presidents are still recognized by the honorific.
