So let me get this straight. PA and its people are in poverty, no economy, yet they have a half a mill lying around for boat purchases?
JERUSALEM, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- The Israeli Shin Bet security agency said Thursday it had uncovered plans by Islamic jihad terrorists to stage attacks on the country from the sea.
The operatives were to pose as fishermen and sail in using boats or canoes, the Jerusalem Post reported.
The group had $500,000 invested to purchase a large number of fishing boats and the necessary licenses to operate them, recently arrested suspects told officials.
Iyad Issa Alwan, 24, a fisherman by trade who was arrested by the Shin Bet in November said he had been recruited into the Islamic Jihad to assist operatives to launch attacks against Israeli targets from the sea.
Alwan confessed to meeting an Islamic Jihad leader called Abu Islam who informed him of plans to perpetrate shooting and grenade attacks against Israeli military positions or patrols that would be carried out by operatives from the sea.
