The American Film Institute(AFI) has released its list (http://reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=filmNews&storyID=2874470)of the "Top 100 Heros &
Villians" in cinematic history.
Topping the two lists of 50 are Gregory Peck's Atticus Finch, and Anthony Hopkins' Hannibal Lecter in their respective categories. The selections were made by 1,500 jurors, which represented a cross-section of Hollywood-types, film critics and college professors. The criteria that they were given to base their selections on were: heroes should be defined by "a sense of morality, courage and purpose", while villains were judged by their "wickedness of mind, selfishness of character and will to power". As is protocol for these sorts of things, the list will be highlighted in a three-hour, CBS television special next Tuesday in what promises to be a truly lackluster exercise in network filler programming.:)
What would be your selection based on the highlited criteria?
