IIRC, it's related to Wicca, but I don't know any more than that, if even that's correct.
It celebrates fertility and the flowering of life.

Hey Mel -- Don't feelm guilty. Nothing wrong with an evil mind. I love evil minds -- ssometimes they come up with some of the most interesting ideas... :)

I have my own Rite of Spring.
I remove my clothes and stand, sit and run in a secluded spot in the woods at a Metropolitan Park nearby.
I then sit down and feel the trees around me, smell the air, feel either the warmth of the day or the chill of a breeze.
I thank God for this life.
Am I nuts?
Yes.
But I touch the Earth, and the Earth touches me.
and I am like a newborn baby
unencumbered
and for a short short time,
unburdened from the inhibitions taught by society.
I have never told anyone this.
