[NOT IN RED CROSS OFFICES] Senior Islamic Jihad terrorist arrest while hiding in the offices of the International Solidarity Movement in Jenin

Senior Islamic Jihad terrorist arrest while hiding in the offices of the
International Solidarity Movement in Jenin
IDF SPOKESPERSON ANNOUNCEMENT 28 March 2003

[IMRA: The IDF Spokeperson's Office told IMRA that the source of the
confusion in earlier reports that claimed the terrorists were caught in Red
Cross offices was that a number of organizations are located in the same
building.]

Shadi Sukiya, a senior member of the Islamic Jihad in Jenin who was involved
in the planning of several thwarted suicide attacks, was arrested by IDF
troops while hiding in the offices of the International Solidarity Movement.

The IDF was conducting searches since last night for Sukiya in a complex of
buildings. During the searches, an assistant to Sukiya surrendered, and 2
Kalashnikov rifles were founded. Based on intelligence information, the
forces searched a building housing international organizations (Physicians
without Borders, the Red Cross and the International Solidarity Movement).
Sukiya was found hiding in the offices of the International Solidarity
Movement. A handgun was also found.

The confusion was evidently caused by the proximity of the ISM's offices to those of the Red Cross - housed in the same building, along with Medecins sans Frontieres.

It might be worth noting that another humanitarian organization, the Magen David Adom (MDA), The Red Star of David, was founded 52 years ago. It's the Red Cross, but with the star of David as its symbol. Its aim is to protect life and health and alleviate human suffering. It serves the whole of Israel's population without discrimination, including 1.1 million Israeli Arabs and Palestinian Arabs in need. But its application for membership of the The International Federation Of Red Cross (IFRC) was refused, on the grounds that all new national aid organizations should use the the Red Cross symbol. And yet 25 Red Crescent organizations, which represent the Muslim world, were subsequently taken into the IFRC, which is now called the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

I think the MDA was founded in the 1930's or even earlier. Also, the American Red Cross has been witholding dues until the International Red Cross lets in Israel.
My question is what is the Red Cross doing in the same building as a terrorist organization? Doesn't this say something about the PA when a terrorist organization openly rent an office spot?

Of course, the American Red Cross could be witholding dues just to fatten their coffers as well.

Yes. I think the "52 years" I quoted was based on the time from the passing of the MDA Law in 1950.

"In July of 1950, the Knesset (Israel's Parliament) ratified the Magen David Adom Law, which charged MDA with responsibility for: 1) Providing auxiliary service to Israel's Army Medical Corps in wartime, including providing emergency medical care for the wounded and war refugees. 2) Providing civilian emergency and medical and first-aid services and temporary shelter in emergency situations. 3) Maintaining a blood bank for civilian use. Subsequently, MDA has played a major role in providing vital lifesaving services during each of Israel's wars, skirmishes and terrorist attacks; as well as in times of peace. " (from the MDA site)
