<a href="http://www.grassfire.net/mygrassfire.asp?rid=">Grassfire.net</a> is one. May be too right wing for some.
I am part of another board, and one of the members there is currently station on the USS Abraham Lincoln. This young man's job is to fly out with pilots and provide navigation. I want to share something with all of you - both those who are pro-war and anti-war, and for those who support the protestors.
Good news and BAD news....
Well good news is that communications have returned and we are no longer in the dark. Bad news, well, way too much. Some truly quality people have died in a helo crash, and more casualties are on the way. As if war was not enough, back home cities are ablaze with riots. My hometown, Portland Oregon is hurting for money right now, and these fucking scumbags spraypaint our town. It costs a lot of cash to repair the damadge they have done. They are insane, people were beaten, windows smashed, tires slashed, and the riot police were "trying to let people choose to leave peacfully". While I am out here risking my life, all the scum of the city rallied together wreaking havoc on my butiful city. After seeing live feeds from riots across the country, it makes me sick to my stomach that while we are doing what must be done, people are being absolutley insane. I love my city, and to get word that it has been terrorized by the low end of its population, makes me sick. I saw people buning American flags in the streets, cheering as they watched the flames. After that, it really makes me sad that people can be so ignorent. I know many portland area police officers, and I know that they hate dealing with these rioting punks. They only cause harm and do nothing to encourage peace. All it takes now is for me to come home to be called a BABIE KILLER.
I hope that the people of this country do not hate me for trying to protect them. I am glad you all are nice to me on the ***** board, and I hope that people cool down before I come home. There is no point at all to riot, and watching people burn American flags, they might as well chant "Hail Hitler".
Everyone who protests says they also support the troops. Well, I want them to realize that the troops aren't feeling supported when they turn on the news and see protestors DESTROYING their homes.
These young men and women are out to do a JOB. One that most of us are too chicken shit to do. So, if you do not support the war, that is your right. But please stop protesting. It's demoralizing our troops. If you truly support our troops, stop with the violent protests. Stop destroying their cities. Make them PROUD to be at YOUR service. Show respect.

Thanks misu.
Yes, thank you for posting it. Is it all right if I copy it and send it out to a couple of people?
I was so afraid of this happening. I've said it since this since way back in the beginning. I know that those in here that served in VM were worried, though hopeful it wouldn't be repeated.
Reminds me of the song.. You go back Jack, and do it again, wheel spinnin' round and round.
It just doesn't end.
Go ahead, Cyd. He posted his feeling so we would know what he and his fellow shipmates are feeling. They're very down and sad about the whole thing. They expected protesting, but not to this extent.
I know he wouldn't mind if you spread if around to others, so everyone can know what some of the troops on the USS Lincoln are feeling.

I just realized I accidentally left in the name of the board we're on, so I just cleared it out. In case this message gets spread around a lot, I don't want him to get in trouble.
